How to...contact your representative

1) figure out if this is a federal, state, county, or city matter

- try and figure out what population it affects, does this issue only relate to your city? Or does it affect people in the entire county? Or the state? Or the country?

- knowing where this issue lies will you help figure out which representative to contact

- look up your zip code followed by federal/state/county/city representative

2) try and figure out what is it exactly that you need/want.

Some things are better off written in an email, while something's are better conveyed over the phone.  Figure out what would be most effective.

Examples of good things to call about:

- help with a government agency (For example: issues with EDD)

Examples of good things to email about:

- bill oppoistion/support: It's easier to log your support with written proof; make sure to include your zip code and full name to ensure that you are contacting the right representative

- invitations to events: it's more likely to get in the hands of the right person (the scheduler) and quickest this way
